Bengali-Inspired Soundtrack
The music in Jungle of Poems is split into two tracks: a “regular” version, and a “dream” version. Both tracks follow the same overall melody but have differences in energy and atmosphere.
To create the sounds for Jungle of Poems, our sound director Aidan Smith worked diligently to use the local instruments and patterns heard in the music of the Indian subcontinent.
“বন্ধু আমার! থেকে থেকে কোন্ সুদূরের বিজন পুরে
ডাক দিয়ে যাও ব্যথার সুরে?
আমার অনেক দুখের পথের বাসা বারে বারে ঝড়ে উড়ে,
ঘর-ছাড়া তাই বেড়াই ঘুরে।।”
“To which lonesome abode do you beckon me
plaintively
again and again, my friend!
My roadside home, full of sorrows,
is blown up by the storm every now and then
and so, made homeless, I roam around.”
“হে মোর রাণি! তোমার কাছে হার মানি আজ শেষে।
আমার বিজয়-কেতন লুটায় তোমার চরণ-তলে এসে।
আমার সমর-জয়ী অমর তরবারী
দিনে দিনে ক্লানি- আনে, হ’য়ে ওঠে ভারী,
এখন এ ভার আমার তোমায় দিয়ে হারি,
এই হার-মানা-হার পরাই তোমার কেশে।”
“O my queen
Today at last I accept defeat
My battle-flag lies at your feet
My immortal sword of victory
Is tired now and heavy.
I cosign to you the weight of it now,
I make my surrender a wreath round your brow.”
“আমি চির-বিদ্রোহী বীর-
বিশ্ব ছাড়ায়ে উঠিয়াছি একা চির-উন্নতশির।”
“I the great rebel.
I am the rebel eternal,
I raise my head beyond this world,
High, ever erect and alone!”
